Registration examples per item type

This article explains how to accurately and efficiently record the most commonly found items. Proper registration streamlines the matching process, making it easier to connect owners with their belongings.

  1. Wallets or cardholders

  2. Electronics (Smartphone, tablet, laptop, camera etc.)

  3. Backpacks

  4. Clothing

  5. Keys

  6. Earbuds / Airpods / Earpods

  7. Jewelry

  8. Passport - ID card - Driver's license

  9. Bank, debit and credit cards

  10. Personal transportation card and other cards

Wallets

      1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Wallet, cardholder, purse etc;

      2. Take a picture of the exterior;

      3. Is there a last name known? If yes, enter the owner's last name;
        *Many wallets have similar designs, which helps prevent multiple claims from being made on the same item. This also makes it easier for the owner to locate their wallet online.
        **Please note that the last name is not personally identifiable and can be shared.

      4. Enter verification details such as the date of birth, brand, last four digits, cash amount, initials, etc;
        *If possible, include photos of identifying features. Note: Avoid taking pictures of passes or cards, as this may unnecessarily capture personal data.

Electronics (Smartphone, tablet, laptop, camera etc.)

      1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Mobile phone, iPhone, Tablet, Laptop etc;

      2. Take a picture of the exterior;

      3. Add if needed ''Additional public characteristics'' such as the coulor;

      4. Enter verification details:

          1. Does the item have distinctive attention points such as a unique case or stickers;

          2. Type of model;

          3. IMEI number (can be found under the battery or call * # 06 #);

          4. Background photo;

          5. SIM card provider;

      5. *If you’re unable to match the device, entering the access code is the final option.

Backpacks

  1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Backpack, Bag, Suitcase etc;

  2. Take a picture of the exterior;

  3. Add if needed ''Additional public characteristics'' such as the coulor or the brand;

  4. Take a picture of the contents of the backpack(this photo is only internally viewable);

  5. Enter verification details: For items like a backpack, focus on noting the most valuable contents, as the owner is likely to mention these first when making a claim..

Clothing

  1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Jacket, Gloves, Scarf etc;

  2. Take a picture of the exterior;

  3. Add if needed ''Additional public characteristics'' such as the coulor or the brand;

  4. Capture clear pictures of the jacket's unique elements, including any icons, logos, or the interior label;

  5. Enter verification details: The brand, size, possible contents of the pockets.

Keys

  1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Key, Car Key, Keychain etc;

  2. Take a picture of the exterior;
    *When it comes to keys, you can confidently share the entire photo online. Our experience indicates that fraud is rare, as owners typically recognize their keys from the image;
    **For car keys, we advise that they should not be easily identifiable in public photos; instead, note this in the control characteristics;

  3. Add if needed ''Additional public characteristics'';

  4. Enter verification details: This could possibly be a distinctive key chain.

Jewelry

    1. What item did you find? Type the titel: Watch, ring, necklace, bracelet etc;

    2. Decide whether to register an external photo. For valuable jewelry, we recommend avoiding public photos. In the screenshot below, we chose not to capture a public photo.

    3. Capture clear internal photo's as verification details;

    4. Enter any additional information about the item;

Earbuds / Airpods / Earpods

  • Title: brand name

  • Add a photo if there are sufficient verification characteristics. If not, uncheck "photo visible"

  • Enter verification characteristics:

    • Brand

    • Empty case (no content)

    • Unique case

    • Serial Number

    • Damage

    • Location of find

    • Check whether the item can be found via bluetooth, if so; Check if they are registered with a personal name

Passport - ID card - Driver's license

  • Title: the name of the document and last name

  • Always enter the date of birth (day and month only) and municipality of issue for verification characteristics.

  • Never ask people for their Citizen Service Number (BSN)

  • Check your local laws regarding identification documents. Certain countries or states require identification documents to be turned in to local authorities.

Bank, debit and credit cards

  • Title: the name of the card, bank and last name

  • Enter the last 4 digits of the account number and initials for verification characteristics

  • Never ask people for their PIN code

Personal transportation card and other cards

  • Title: name card and last name

  • Verification characteristics: Initials, date of birth (day and month only), and last 4 digits of the card number
